Vervece ('o Revece in Neapolitan language) is a rock one mile north-west from Marina della Lobra in Massa Lubrense and it is 60 meters high. It is told that due to this rock the local women button is flat. The women wanted to carry the rock on the sand with some ropes as they were afraid that people from Sorrento would take it.
While pulling the ropes, they broke and the women fell down on their button. For a question of toponymy the rock is called the husband of the island of Capri. Recently in the water around Vervece Enzo Maiorca established the world record of breath-held diving. In this water a statue of the Madonna has been laid and it is celebrated on August 15th when scuba divers take flowers to the statue. The Madonna is the protector of all divers.
